Branching time and orthogonal bisimulation equivalence

چکیده
We propose a refinement of branching bisimulation equivalence that we call orthogonal bisimulation equivalence. Typically, internal activity (i.e., the performance of τ -steps) may be compressed, but not completely discarded. Hence, a process with τ -steps cannot be equivalent to one without τ -steps. Also, we present a modal characterization of orthogonal bisimulation equivalence. This equivalence is a congruence for ACP extended with abstraction and priority operations. We provide a complete axiomatization, and describe some expressiveness results. Finally, we present the verification of a PAR protocol that is specified with use of priorities. 2000 Mathematics Subject Classification: 68Q55; 68Q60; 68Q70; 68Q85

An O(m\log n) Algorithm for Stuttering Equivalence and Branching Bisimulation
We provide a new algorithm to determine stuttering equivalence with time complexity O(m logn), where n is the number of states and m is the number of transitions of a Kripke structure. This algorithm can also be used to determine branching bisimulation in O(m(log |Act |+ logn)) time where Act is the set of actions in a labelled transition system. Theoretically, our algorithm substantially impro...
متن کاملComparative branching-time semantics for Markov chains
This paper presents various semantics in the branching-time spectrum of discrete-time and continuous-time Markov chains (DTMCs and CTMCs). Strong and weak bisimulation equivalence and simulation pre-orders are covered and are logically characterised in terms of the temporal logics PCTL and CSL. Apart from presenting various existing branching-time relations in a uniform manner, our contribution...
متن کاملBack and forth bisimulations
This paper is concerned with bisimulation relations which do not only require related agents to simulate each others behavior in the direction of the arrows, but also to simulate each other when going back in history. First it is demonstrated that the back and forth variant of strong bisimulation leads to the same equivalence as the ordinary notion of strong bisimulation. Then it is shown that ...
متن کاملGeneric Trace Semantics and Graded Monads
Models of concurrent systems employ a wide variety of semantics inducing various notions of process equivalence, ranging from linear-time semantics such as trace equivalence to branching-time semantics such as strong bisimilarity. Many of these generalize to system types beyond standard transition systems, featuring, for example, weighted, probabilistic, or game-based transitions; this motivate...
متن کاملFair Equivalence Relations
Equivalence between designs is a fundamental notion in verification. The linear and branching approaches to verification induce different notions of equivalence. When the designs are modeled by fair state-transition systems, equivalence in the linear paradigm corresponds to fair trace equivalence, and in the branching paradigm corresponds to fair bisimulation. In this work we study the expressi...
